Awesome Acrostics

Here is a super fun Pinterest find that I had my kiddos do their last week and they loved it.  It's from Amy at Step Into Second Grade with Mrs. Lemons and they are adorable acrostic name poems.

The kids had to come up with words that describe them and their personality:)  They really enjoyed this and had fun coming up with JUST THE RIGHT WORDS.  Some of them even dug out the dictionary.

.
This girl nailed it!  Especially with the joker....she is a bubbly, happy thing:)

After they finished their names, they did a self portrait.

Love that this one says leader.  We have been doing the 7 habits and striving to teach our students to be responsible role models and leaders:0)

This would be fun for now or..........................................................

Wait a minute!!!!!!!!!  Did anyone just see the light bulb go off over my head???????

Did you see it??????  Really????  It did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be  a great activity for the beginning of the school year too!  The kids could do it and then do a small presentation for a getting to know you activity to introduce themselves:D

So doing this in August!!!

Happy Friday all!!!

  1. WOW, you really have some good artists. Yes, this would be a great idea for the beginning of the year...so I will pin it...just to remind myself this fall.

    Question of 7 habits.
1.How long do you spend on a habit?
2.What kind of activities do you do with each habit? I've made posters, etc, but looking for something that makes the habit stick.
    3. Are there activity booklets for kids, or just the hardcover book I have?

Have a good summer. Students have been out for a week, but today I managed to get checked out.

  3. We do acrostics too, but we write them to our friends. Each morning we write an acrostic poem for 3-4 friends during our morning meeting. Then I take all their poems and use them for an end of the year book.

  9. Hi Tara,
Nice to meet you! {Ha} I am sorry I am a comment slacker most of the time!!! I LOVE reading your comments and your posts. I can tell you are such a giving sweet teacher. I did get a bit overwhelmed the last two weeks. Not gonna lie. Now that my babies are out of school, I have three more days next week.
It hasn't hit me at all. It still feels like just a regular weekend. You? Are you done done?
Your students are really great artists. Or is that what all 4th graders can do? Amazing acrostics!

  15. We also do acrostics on book characters or review (example: colonist) as a way to see comprehension. Just a thought!
