I am loving all the link ups here on the MMI's (that's short for Monday Made It) BUT......
can I tell you something??????????????
Can I share?????????
This summer's MMI is not focusing me like last summer:/ Boo hoo! I don't know if it's the fact that my summer is already half over and I'm freaking out?!?!?!?! I am freaking out and can't focus on ONE thing..........my mind is EVERYWHERE so I really don't feel like I'm accomplishing much......notice, I haven't had but 1 home made it:( Sad face! I've only finished one book:( Sad face!!! So maybe the fact that it is July and I am quickly running out of summer time, will kick me into gear because I need it!!!!
Alright, enough whining and on to my made its.
This made it has been on my to do list since last summer!
The ever popular and oh so pretty glitter clothespins!
I found glitter in lime and turquoise at Hob Lob. I tried to set up a system so there wouldn't be glitter everywhere!!! It worked really well. I poured the glitter in bowls. Put the mod podge on a clothes pin and then put the clothes pin down (glue side) in the glitter. Lift it out, give it a tab to knock off the extra and done:) When they dried I put on another coat of mod podge.

My next Made It idea/inspiration/pinspiration (that's a word!) is was from my friend Molly at Lessons with Laughter. She is an awesome teacher, makes awesome things for her classroom, and her blog is great. If you have never been there, you have got to go dig through it:) Well worth your time!
A while ago, she blogged about her homework club. Pop over to her blog and read all about it HERE. I really like that idea and am ready for a change. The past 2 years I have had "The Black Book"....it works ok but seemed to always be the same kiddos not doing homework.....that may be the case with this new system but I really want to give it a try.
The big difference between mine and Molly's is that I decided to use numbers instead of pictures. The number idea I got last year from the amazing Teri at A Cupcake for the Teacher. (You can read about that HERE. Dig through her blog too because it's awesome and she uses the numbers several ways) I will be adding and blogging more about numbers thanks to Teri!
I bought a large pizza pan from Wallie world. I was going to paint it but couldn't find a color that seemed right and I really think I like it this way anyway. Gray is one of my colors and silver is close to gray, right?
I can't wait to give this a shot. Thanks Molly and Teri for your inspiration, sharing, and ideas!
UPDATE: as of Monday evening, this is now posted as a freebie in my TPT shop:)
Before I turn over for the linkups, I have to announce my 2 winners for my Bloglovin' Giveaway. The winners are:
Catherine
Jenna
I have emailed you both!
Congrats!!
As of this very second it is lightening and pouring rain!!! Boo, no run for me this morning....I have no problem with the rain BUT lightening....nope:) So can't wait to read and be inspired this morning! Hopefully I can get my FOCUS on!!!!
Please grab my button and super please don't forget to leave some love on the blogs you visit! It takes 2 seconds and can make a day:) Also, if you Instagram, don't forget to link up there too using #mondaymadeit
I love the homework club idea! Your silver (gray) tray looks great with your numbers!!
ReplyDeleteYour clothespins are super-cute too. I wish I had the patience for glitter!!!
Glad my insomnia paid off this week. ;-)

My summer is quickly going away too and I have a bazillion things to accomplish still. Are you using the clothespins for Clip Chart management or something else?
ReplyDeleteLoving the clothespins! I made those earlier this summer too and have been glittering everything ever since! You will love the numbering system and not having to re-make everything year after year (or at least I do)!
DeleteThanks again for being inspirational and sharing!

I'm going to go read about those numbers -- yours are very cute. Just a little rain here, so I just got in from my run. One of my summer goals - get back to the running program. Started my 4th week this morning :)

Math is Elementary
Your glittery clothespins are darling! Looks like you have enough glitter to be-dazzle many other items...like your desk...ha! My teaching partner would totally glitter up her high heels for the 1st day of school...she's WiLd! I love the homework club number idea! It puts emphasis on the positive and lets the responsible kiddos shine!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the linky!
Lizzy from *The Teacher Chick*
I'm glad you mentioned that you could not get your brain wrapped around one thing! That is totally happening to me this summer. I feel like I'm juggling a million things.. all by my own choice mind you, but still. I'm waiting for the "RELAX" part. :)
ReplyDeleteYour glitter clothespins are so fun! I'm thinking of making some with washi tape because my teammate HATES glitter. She is so awesome to teach with, but glitter just makes her skin crawl! LOL
Enjoy your week!

Michele, I made some last year with glitter scrapbook paper...no mess! Maybe your teammate would be ok with them. =O)

Everything turned out great! Your clothespins are beautiful. I'm going to transform (or upcycle) some old trays that I had for the homework club idea. Since I teach 3 classes, I needed to have at least 3 boards. I already have some hanging and didn't use them last year. Now I know exactly what to use them for! Thanks Molly and Tara for the inspiration :)

Hi Tara! Since I just started blogging in November, this is my first summer doing MMI! I am loving it :) It is keeping me super motivated, but I know what you mean about your mind being everywhere! My to-do list is growing by the day from all of these creative ideas I am finding on #mondaymadeit! I love the clothespins and will definitely be doing that for this year! I always display written work next to my outside bulletin board and I can't wait to jazz it up with this idea. Thanks for sharing and thanks for MMI!

This has been on my to-do list for summer, but I haven't been brave enough to break out the glitter. You just saved me (and my vacuum) some major heartache! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those glitter clothespins!!!! I made some last year for my behavior chart! So bright and colorful! Love the lime and turquoise!!

Love the Homework Club idea! Saw Molly's and thought I would have to make the glass bead magnets for numbers. I am NOT crafty! I looked for your numbers on TPT in your store and didn't see it. Will you be posting them and the homework sign soon? I am soooo buying them the minute you do!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and your homework club idea. A friend of mine used a similar idea last year. Luckily for me I had a great class that did not need motivation to do homework. I am moving from 2nd to 4th this year and can't wait to get more ideas from you. I have even been inspired to begin my own blog....which is a work in progress. :)

so happy for your honesty. I am teaching summer school and feel like I am so unproductive. I have a HUGE list of things to make, but I am so tired when I get home from school that nothing gets done. I hate missing out on this great linky, but I feel I am killing myself trying to be a part of it. It's supposed to be fun, right? Not stressful. I am just going to to breathe and try and enjoy and not try and be super blogger!
ReplyDeleteThank you!

Love MMI's!! Tagged mine on Instagram. :) Thanks for keeping this great party going.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling your pain, summer is going by WAY to fast. Students start on Aug. 5 at my school. I love the Homework Club. I went back and read your pinspiration (love the word). I'm afraid in 1st grade I could have a lot of tears each week. I still expect parents to help them with their homework and I usually have several that get no help. Maybe that would encourage them to do what they can for credit.
ReplyDeleteKelly
I'm Not Your Grandpa, I'm Your Teacher
I feel the same way about this summer, going by way too fast!! I just made my Homework Club board but it's not as cute as yours! Would you be willing to share your numbers and HC label? I just LOVE them!!!
ReplyDeleteMy summer just started one week ago...but I already feel like it is going way too fast! I absolutely LOVE your homework club. Thanks for the blog post link - I went right there to check it out. I am definitely going to try it this year. I am off to Hob Lob this afternoon (we just got one near me!). Hopefully I will get it into my next Monday Made-It!

LOVE!!!!! Your glitter clothespins tuned out great and I love your homework club!!! The numbers are adorable!!! And I love the ribbon you have!! Mine needs a major face lift this summer! I'm with you on the lack of focus this summer... I haven't made one darn crafty thing for my classroom next year! Not one! I need to start working!! At least for now I can look at all the fun crafty projects from your linky! Hopefully that will give me some motivation!! :)
ReplyDeleteMolly
Lessons with Laughter
Cute projects. :) I'm also not feeling as creative as last summer. I haven't wanted to do anything school related, and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to still accomplish before the beginning of the year.... and that's not the fun/cute stuff - just the normal prep!!!
ReplyDeleteTara I LOVE your colors! I'm using blue and green this year as well. I need to make those glitter clothespins asap! I'm going to have to think about the homework club too. Usually my kiddos are pretty good about it (i.e. parents) because they are in 1st grade and there really isn't much. I'll have to see what my class is like this year! Can't wait to start making some things for next year and linking up!

Love the Homework Club. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the linky party again this week. I know what you mean about not being focused on one thing. With a new baby this summer I am finding it hard to sit down and just get things done too. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Hi Tara!! Wow! Lots of link ups already today! I was productive last week but not so much in the Made-It department:( I hope to be back next week:) I love your glitter clothespins and I made some of those last year! The glitter held up beautifully but the thumbtacks I hot glued on the back did not since many of them fell off:( I am saving the clothespins though and will find more uses for them!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your homework club with numbers display! I'd say you have been very productive!! I can't wait to check out all the Made-Its! Thanks for hosting an awesome party:)

I'm sorry that you feel unproductive, you always have so many great ideas and I am always inspired by this linky!! Today is my first Monday of summer and I had unexpected house guests so I have nothing to link up. But I have big plans for this week, hoping to capitalize on some end of school ideas and energy while I can. Still loving your color theme - trying to decided on one before I make labels for my binders and bins tomorrow!

In terms of "high quality" movies (those with at least a 7.5 rating on IMDb), Prime Video is virtually tied with Netflix. And both Netflix and Hulu have more high quality shows (those with an 8 rating or higher) than Prime Video. ... But without ads, it's still less expensive than Netflix's most popular plan.
