Monday Made It - It's Back!!

So apparently I can't multi-task...meaning do holidays and Monday Made  Well holidays are done and I am back with Monday Made It.  Thank you for your patience...I had several sweet emails asking when Monday Made It was going to happen.  I don't have a lot to share but here we go and I'm just gonna put this out there now....2 of my 3 made its are NOT school related, so if you are going to have a problem with that, please just stop reading now....hurtful and rude comments are not necessary.  Ok, now on to my made its:)
My first 2 made its are for my home:)  For Christmas, my daughter and her fiancĂ© made me a beautiful bulletin board out of pallets.  I just love it!
You can't really tell from the pic but it's huge!  I wanted some fun tacks for it so I found these old looking metal flowers at Hob Lob and just glued tacks on the back:)

I love them....I'm going to pick up some more flowers and glue magnets on too:)
This made it is a major work in progress!!!  I recently started journaling which then led to finding Illustrated Faith and a journaling bible:)
Here are a few of my pages:)

then I saw bibles with wonderful tabs so I decided to make some of my own....
This tab punch I got at Hob is awesome!  You can make tabs for everything!!!

Then, since I don't like my handwriting, I printed up the tabs labels on clear labels with fun different fonts:)
Almost done with the Old Testament...taking a long time but will be well worth it and I LOVE how they are looking!
Finally, these little buggars have been on my to do list for a long time!!!  I saw these adorable little guys on IG on a few accounts.  I just loved them and had to make some for my classroom.
They are Quiet Critters. (I think...don't quote me...that the original idea came from Relief Teaching Ideas)  You need pom poms, felt flowers and wiggly eyes.

They turned out so fun and my kids are going to flip!!!  They love little things like this and believe me, little things can make a BIG difference!
Well, that's all I have for ya today!  Feel free to link up any time this month.  The only rule I have is that you don't link directly to your store.  If you want to link up a product, blog about it and link from there:)  Kind comments are always welcome here and everywhere you visit!
Thanks for popping by!!

Minutes in Math Make a Difference

I don't know about you but I am constantly left feeling like there is never enough time in a day to cover all that I want/need to cover....and because of this, I know that every minute counts and is really important.  One thing I added to my daily routine a few years ago was my Morning Math meeting.  I have posted about this several times so if you want to read more details about it you can check out this link:) HERE
In a nutshell, I set up my little board with a mix of all kinds of math...some review, some new that we haven't even gotten to, ALWAYS multiplication...the kids come to the carpet and sit and solve on their dry erase boards, then we go over the answers.  They look forward to this EVERY day.
-  it's a great way to spiral in all kinds of skills
-it gives me a quick little assessment of who has it and who doesn't
- it's quick practice
One thing I have found really eye opening is that if a student misses one of the problems, most of the time they are able to explain why, once we have gone over it:)  The best thing about this???  The whole things takes about 10 - 15 minutes.  We do this every morning at the beginning of our math block.
Some of the MOST valuable minutes in math are right here, on this carpet, in front of this board.
Another little activity I started and wanted to share was our post it challenge.  Every morning I write a word problem on the board.  When the students come in, they unpack, do their morning routines and then get started on this.  I supply  a little stack of post its.  Once a student solves it, they post it on the board and continue with their morning routine.  This is all done BEFORE the bell rings:)  As soon as we are done with Morning Math meeting, the kids return to their seats and we go over the post it challenge.  Again, just minutes, but really valuable ones:)
Hope one or both of these ideas are something you can use.  If you do something different that just takes minutes, I would love to hear about it:)  Comment below!
